Radio stations began re-broadcasting their programming online in the
mid
90's. It was merely an extension of what they were already

infringement for both music and voice talents on radio stations.

were situated in - not worldwide).

internet radio stations solely devoted to serving their audience
online. No license required. In the beginning it
was a bit like legal pirate radio, which is an oxymoron I agree... but
with the evolution of online radio, these internet stations are now
required to pay license fees for the music they play.
